Here at Young Adult Money we like to save money, and we love looking into new tools and hacks to spend less money on products and services we purchase. We are all about using simple hacks to get the lowest price on products we love.
I’ve talked about couponing in the past and even created an Excel spreadsheet that helps you organize coupons, but coupons aren’t for everyone. A lot of people criticize couponing because it can be time-consuming and result in purchasing things that you otherwise wouldn’t purchase.
I’m a really picky consumer. I typically will only purchase products that receive high ratings by other consumers, and when I find products I like I typically become a very loyal consumer.
The problem with this is that sometimes you end up purchasing the same products again and again regardless of the price. What if you could save money on these products you love that you already purchase on a regular basis or that you plan on purchasing in the future?
Today I am excited to share a new tool that you likely haven’t heard of before. It’s a relatively new tool but it helps you save money on things you already purchase.
If I don’t have your attention yet, did I mention you also will get cash back on those purchases? At over 750+ partner stores including Target, Walmart, Expedia, Forever 21, and more?
Read on to see how it works.
Saving Money – and Getting Cash Back – on Things You Already Plan on Purchasing
As I mentioned I’m a picky consumer. In the past six months I’ve bought and returned four suits. I’ve also spent (literally) more than three years trying to find a dress shirt I like. Can you imagine going that long without a dress shirt that you actually like to wear?
I finally found the perfect dress shirt at none other than Target. It’s branded as the “Ultimate Shirt” and to me, it truly is. It has longer sleeves and a trim fit. They work for both the office and for casual wear. This is what I’ve been waiting for.
The only problem with these dress shirts is the price: $30.
Yes, $30 isn’t a ton of money for a dress shirt. But paying $30 for a shirt from Target just sounds painful.
Like I said I really love these dress shirts and have bought nearly every color and pattern they offer. But what I find a bit depressing is the fact that they go on sale once in a while, but not often. There is no easy way to track the price, though, and I don’t really want to check every single week to see if it’s on sale.
That’s where Shoptivity comes in.
Shoptivity is a site that helps you track the price of products you plan on purchasing. It also acts a shopping portal and gives you cash back at 750+ stores if you click through their site prior to making your purchase.
I added one of the dress shirts to my tracking list so that I can buy more of them when they go on sale.
Now all I have to do is wait for the price to drop. When that happens, I will get an alert and I can go back to Shoptivity, click through their site to be directed to the specific product page at Target, and make my purchase. A few days later I will get cash back deposited in my account, and every quarter I’ll get a check in the mail with my cash back.
A win all around.
How to Start Saving Money and Getting Cash Back
Getting started on Shoptivity is simple. Go to Shoptivity.com, and sign up on the home page.
On the store page alone there are a ton of well-known stores that you can click through to. Notice the cash back savings you could receive by using the Shoptivity portal to click through to the stores page.
To recap: Shoptivity helps you track the price of products you plan on buying or already buy and provides cash back at over 750+ stores if you click through on their site. This can translate to both savings by buying products when they are on sale or at their lowest price, as well as provide you with cash back rewards that you otherwise wouldn’t receive.
One last note, if you love Ebates, you are going to love Shoptivity. Here’s some statistics that may convince you to give Shoptivity a try:
- 39% of our stores where Shoptivity offers cash back, Ebates does not offer cash back
- Among the stores where Shoptivity overlap with Ebates, Shoptivity offers more cash back at 58% of those stores, including stores like Anthropologie, Banana Republic, Nordstrom, Hilton, and Michael’s
If you would like to give Shoptivity a try, click here to go to their home page and set up your free account.
Are there products you buy regularly that you would benefit from knowing when they are discounted or on sale? Do you currently use a shopping portal to save money?

Thanks for sharing! I always love a great deal. I have been meaning to get in to couponing again but I am not the most organized (and always forget the coupons when I actually go to the store). This app could def come in handy especially around the holidays!

Yes it can definitely help for the Holidays! The cash back alone could give you a decent chunk of change and take some of the sting out of gift-buying.

Thanks for the resource David. I’ve never heard of Shoptivity. I usually just browse Slickdeals and see what’s on sale. But this seems like a better approach for people that already have an idea of what they want and want to get the best deal. Who doesn’t love to save a couple bucks?

I like getting discounts on items that I purchase, even if it’s small. I also love discount websites added in with credit card discounts I found out can add up to a significant chunk of change my year-end.
Thanks for letting us know about this site! I haven’t heard of it and might check it out. I’ve been trying a few discount websites recently :)

I think I fall into the category of “picky consumer” too. Once a standard has been set by one product, I won’t settle for less. I tend to buy the same things over and over again. I think I may have to try Shoptivity.
