Happy Memorial Day! Today I thought I would mix it up and share some random facts about myself. While I inevitably share some things about myself through the posts on this site, I thought I would intentionally write a post about some things about myself.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Victoria for a little over a year and a half. She has written a number of posts on this site and has definitely been my biggest supporter as I spend a ridiculous amount of time managing the site.

My first time on an airplane was when I was nineteen years old. This was on a mission trip to Juarez, Mexico. Since then I have been on an airplane quite a bit more, including Jamaica and Hawaii. I hope to travel more in the future when finances and opportunities align. I potentially had an opportunity to go to Thailand for two weeks this Fall, but it wasn’t in the cards. Someday.

At one point I was incredibly fascinated with the world of professional poker, and the lifestyle of professional poker players. Perhaps it’s because I personally know a couple of people from high school who have cashed huge sums of money (think $250k in one tournament…) or that the poker craze was taking off when I was in late high-school/early college. I haven’t written much about poker on this site – if at all – but I do plan on writing a little about my views/opinions of the industry and where it’s headed.
Ran into this guy in front of the Golden Nugget – Phil Hellmuth! One of the most successful poker players of all-time. He’s known for being a jerk, but he was actually a really nice guy when I met him. He’s also apparently a giant…
While I obviously spend a ton of time blogging these days, I actually got into social media years ago. I did social media and marketing for a blog, and ended up launching a few other short-lived websites that utilized social media as a marketing tactic. I have over 50,000 Twitter followers (see how I did it, and it has benefited me in quite a few ways. Probably the most interesting way was I got to go on a private corporate deck at a Twins game for social media night. Only 15 people got accepted out of thousands of applications. It was definitely an experience.
Enjoying the game on the deck with my friend Stolpe.
My favorite food is tuna salad. I don’t like tuna in particular, but I could eat tuna salad all day every day. It’s a bit ridiculous. I also absolutely love pizza. My first two jobs were at pizza places but this was not because I love pizza, but because my friends worked at Pizza Hut so I figured why not?

Feel free to share something about yourself in the comments! Hope you all have a great Memorial Day!

You and Victoria are so adorable! :) I love these posts because I feel like I get to know the person behind the blog a bit more! BTW I watched two episodes of Prison Break last night and loved it! I mean it helps that there is a lot of eye candy for me…ha ha..but it’s got a lot of twists and turns.

Beachbudget Oh I’m glad you started watching Prison Break! In response to your “eye candy” comment….I guess there’s something for everyone? haha

The first picture is absolutely gorgeous! I love those posts too. Would pick pizza over tuna salad, although it would be hard to pick just one favorite food, maybe simply bread with goat cheese, basil and tomatoes.

RFIndependence Thanks, we had an awesome photographer at our wedding. You have a very organic favorite food ;)
RFIndependence says
DC @ Young Adult Money well if you have to eat it over and over again, I would pick that kind of stuff, my all time favorites include oysters, duck liver paté and other things that wouldn’t be that fun to eat every day!

Your wedding pictures are amazing and that is so cool that you two spent time volunteering in Mexico. Was your trip to Thailand meant to be a volunteer trip as well?
Playing poker for big bucks has become so popular hasn’t it. People really have become wealthy from the tournaments. I think I read somewhere online that there is a big 6 week tournament happening in Las Vegas beginning in the next week or so.
I love tuna salad and pizza as well, plus I would add ice cream to the list :-)

TacklingOurDebt Thailand trip was going to be a volunteer/mission trip as well. We were going to work with a couple full-time missionaries out there, specifically working in anti-human trafficking initiatives. Not enough people signed up at the deadline and we also decided this was not the right time for us as it would have required a lot of financial sacrifice that simply wouldn’t have worked. It would be awesome to do that trip in the future, though.
Yes, the World Series of Poker! One of my life goals is to play in the $10,000 main event. Yep…the buy-in is $10,000 per person :0 Maybe I will end up at Phil Hellmuth’s table ;)

You guys are a beautiful couple!
Something about me: I love going to the horse races! It’s so much fun and a great way to spend a sunny summer day.
DC @ Young Adult Money says
OutlierModel Thanks for the kind words : ) Horse racing is one thing I never really got into, but I’ve only gone once and was confused at how to bet effectively. I went inside and played poker instead.

Gorgeous pics of you two at your wedding! I love them! You’re one lucky guy to have such a pretty wife who is so supportive of your blog! :)
As far as a fact about me, hmmm… well, I have danced for over 20 years. I taught ballet throughout college and was the captain of a hip hop dance team here on the island. It’s fun – one of my passions. :)
DC @ Young Adult Money says
BudgetBlonde Thanks a ton, and that’s cool that you taught dance for so long! I would have never known.

Wow, I can’t believe you got to meet Phil Hellmuth — and randomly too! So cool! I’m a big WPT fan so I’m a bit jealous. :) Also, apparently you and I are among the few people in the world who like Tuna Salad. Lol. My fiance thinks I’m crazy for loving it so much.
