Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I hope all my fellow Americans have a wonderful day celebrating Thanksgiving.
To those who have to work today – thank you! It’s because of you that others are able to have the day off. Oftentimes I think we forget that there are workers at hospitals, restaurants, and retail stores who do not get the day off.
I think we can stop calling tomorrow “Black Friday.” After all, a number of major retailers are opening as early as 5pm today.
A couple years ago I went out at midnight on Black Friday to take advantage of the sales.
This year there are only two things I am looking to get on Black Friday:
- Soundbar from Best Buy – There is a specific Samsung soundbar (Samsung – 400 Series 2.1-Channel Soundbar with 6-1/2″ Wireless Subwoofer) that I was planning on buying a fe weeks ago. Thankfully I checked the Best Buy Black Friday ad and it was listed in the ad for $100 less than I would have paid.
If you read the fine print there is a minimum of 15 of these soundbars at each Best Buy when they open today. It also says prices valid November 27-29, meaning I can probably order it online for the discounted price or go in on Friday or Saturday to get the deal.
- Target 10% off gift cards – Target is offering 10% off gift cards from 6am to noon on Friday morning. Each customer can purchase up to $300 worth of gift cards for a savings of $30.
As I mentioned on Monday, there are many ways to save money at Target. One of these is the Target REDcard (check card) that gives you 5% off your entire order. So the 10% off gift cards are really only 5% off, but between my wife and me getting gift cards we’ll save $30.
Those are the only two things I really want to make sure I get on Black Friday. I’m really happy with how much retailers have embraced e-commerce. So much easier than going to the stores.
I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. I’m thankful for each and every one of my readers. You have no idea how much of an impact this site has had on my life and none of it would have been possible without readers.

I’ll be thinking of everyone in the US and trying to be thankful in my own way – even without a wonderful Thanksgiving feast!
