For the past few years my wife and I haven’t paid a dime towards magazines, but we’ve received a handful of magazine subscriptions.
There’s a ton of free content online, so it can be difficult to justify magazine subscriptions.
But what if you can get magazine subscriptions (legally) free of charge?
Today I’ll share with you my hack for getting free magazine subscriptions. This is something that has been an option for a few years now, and I don’t anticipate it going away anytime soon.
Use Recyclebank for Free Magazine Subscriptions
Recyclebank is a company that has been around since 2004 that provides incentives to recycle and take part in other earth-friendly practices. One way they do this is through partnering with cities. When a city’s members recycle, they earn points that can be redeemed for rewards.
But you don’t need your city to participate to gain points. Anyone can sign up on Recyclebank’s website and take quizzes, go through modules and view slide shows that will earn them points.
For example, below is a screenshot that is an example of the types of things you will see when you click “Earn Rewards”:
There are a ton of these little modules that you can go through to earn points. None of them take that long, and some are literally just one page with a graphic and a little bit of text.
Just a few weeks ago I went through a ton of these modules. I was able to earn enough points to get subscriptions to:
- Men’s Health
- Sports Illustrated
- Travel + Leisure
- Money Magazine
At the time of this writing, they had 54 different magazines to choose from.
While many people’s primary reason for going on Recyclebank will be to get the free magazines, you will also gain some knowledge of recycling that you didn’t know before. For example, one thing I didn’t think about much was the risk of recycling contamination. Oftentimes an entire batch of recyclables will have to be thrown out if there is something thrown into the recycling that shouldn’t be there (like a greasy pizza box).
So if you want to get free magazines – and learn a few things about how we can better take care of the Earth – head over to Recyclebank.
