We all know that budgeting and putting money away in an emergency fund are necessary to maintain your financial health. But what happens if you still need cash quickly?
Maybe you were hit with major car repair bills, or you just want to sock a few extra bucks away for your upcoming vacation.
Whatever the reason, there are plenty of ways you can make money fast. Here are 7 ways to make extra money this weekend.
1) Clean Out Your Home
One of the fastest ways to find money quickly is to clean out your home. Chances are, you will find plenty of items you no longer use. Instead of holding onto the clutter, sell it for some cold, hard cash.
You can sell items easily by hosting a local garage sale. Or, if you prefer, you can sell items online. There are plenty of avenues you can use to sell – apps like OfferUp and LetGo are great for finding local buyers. Craigslist, of course, is still a relevant and useful site. And nowadays, you can sell nearly anything through social media sites such as Facebook.
You might just be surprised at what people are willing to pay for your old, useless items. And as an additional bonus, you will be clearing out the clutter in your life and can start to embrace a more minimalist lifestyle.

2) Assist at Events
Plenty of weekend events happen in every community, and often times, they need extra workers to assist.
For instance, catering companies are almost always looking for extra help to handle large-scale events. I have known people to do weekend work as a bartender or server for catering companies and earn tips no top of their hourly wage.
If you have a professional or collegiate sports team or in your town, you can also look to see if they are hiring any weekend workers to assist at major games. Similarly, concert venues often hire weekend workers since that’s when they tend to hold their biggest events.
One easy way to find weekend gigs is to go to Craigslist and search under the “event gigs” section.
3) Babysit, House Sit, or Pet Sit
Everyone is always looking for a babysitter, house sitter, or pet sitter, and these gigs are relatively easy to find and complete.
Websites like Care.com and Rover.com make it easy to market your services and find clients near you. You can set your rates and solicit reviews from past clients to make yourself more marketable.

4) Try one of these “Lazy” Ways to Make Extra Money
There are a ton of “lazy” ways to make money on the weekend – or any time. While being productive is never truly lazy, what I’m talking about here is things that you can do on your laptop while watching Netflix or sitting at the kitchen table listening to music – or heck, even on your phone when you randomly have free time.
One example of this is travel hacking. With a little effort you could save hundreds or even thousands on your next vacation. It does take some effort, but it’s not like you are going to a second job or doing something on someone else’s schedule.

5) Tutor
Tutoring is a great side gig. You can earn anywhere from $30 to $70 an hour by offering individual tutoring.
To get started tutoring, you can either market your services on your own or you can go through a tutoring company. While it is typically easier to find clients by going through a tutoring company, they will also take a large cut of your profits. You can find your own clients by asking around and working with local schools to let them know about your tutoring services.

6) Do Photography
Have a knack for taking photos? You can pick up photography work on the weekends to earn some extra cash.
While photography takes practice, there are still plenty of people willing to hire new or amateur photographers. Start by connecting with your family and friends to see if they know of anyone who is looking for photography services.
Once you work your way up to professional-level photography, you can earn thousands of dollars each weekend by shooting weddings and other events, making photography one great side gig.

7) Ask for Overtime
Are you in a busy season at work? If so, your company may have more on their plate than they can handle. Ask your boss if there would be any opportunity to work overtime on the weekends.
If you’re eligible for overtime pay, this can really add up quickly. Most companies offer at least time and a half pay, if not double pay, for overtime hours worked.
And if you’re a salaried employee, ask your boss beforehand if you can earn pay for additional hours worked.

Josh says
I’ve enjoyed tutoring as a side hustle. It’s one way I can say I’m putting my degree to work! The hours are flexible and you can do it right after your real job (i.e. don’t have to go home and change clothes either.)

Glad to hear! The flexible hours are a huge benefit.
