Most of you probably don’t know what the Yakezie Challenge is or why it matters that Young Adult Money is joining the challenge.
The best explanation of the Yakezie Challenge is what they have on their about page:
The Yakezie is the web’s largest personal finance and lifestyle blog network. We started in December of 2009, and have since grown to become a thriving community eager to help others. We strive to optimize reader’s personal finances and allow people to lead better lives. We are over 90 Members strong of individual voices, individual owners and different opinions who have all gone through a 6-month Challenge to join the network. Only the finest blogs who we have developed relationships with are admitted.
As a challenger, I have a 6-month goal of getting my Alexa ranking below 200,000 worldwide rank. Alexa is a website that ranks websites based on different metrics. As of August 18th my rank was 1,178,184. As you can imagine, it will take a lot of work to improve the global rank of Young Adult Money below 200,000. I plan on continuing to deliver the same great content, but will spend more time marketing the site and connecting with other writers.
Why should you care about this?
It’s a public statement to the fact that I am committed to quality content on this site every single week. The site will continue to grow and improve over the next six months (and hopefully for a long time after that). If you have any suggestions on how I can improve this site, feel free to comment on this post or contact me via email.
I appreciate each and every one of you for visiting the site, commenting on posts and contributing to the conversation, and for all the shout-outs on facebook and twitter.
Looking forward to the next six months of the Yakezie Challenge!

@Money Life and More Thanks, I am looking forward to using the forums. I will likely be more active on them on weekends when I have time to catch up on things, but it seems like there is a log of good info there (and of course, the networking opportunities are endless).

You’ll be at 200k in no time, DC! You’re already doing the things it takes: posting quality content, networking and building the YAM community. In a year we’ll be sitting at FinCon 2013 laughing about when you were just starting the challenge….
DC @ Young Adult Money says
@AverageJoeMoney Thanks for the encouragement! I’m bummed I can’t make it to FinCon this year, but it’s during month-end close… #AccountantProblems. I plan on making 2013’s FinCon a top priority, tho!
